Why do we meet?

and who is this Jesus…

The bible is the cornerstone of our faith. It foretold Jesus (God’s son) coming to earth and when he did His life fulfilled all the prophecies of him, even down to the details of his death, and resurrection.

If you haven’t read or studied the bible its easy to put it in the same category as other religious books or teachings. However if you do you can miss one of God’s greatest blessings. Aside from being the revealed factual account of the life of Jesus and many men and women of faith throughout time, and an account of creation, it is also God’s love letter to us, showing us how much he cares for us and knows us individually.

The bible can be verified to be true in countless ways, if you doubt its authenticity in any way, can I encourage you research it further. If you look into it enough I know you will have no option, other than to be convinced of its truth. As a starting point have a look at www.answersingenesis.com

So, starting in Genesis, the first book of the bible we see:

God created Adam to care for the garden of Eden and to ‘be fruitful and increase in number’ he then saw that it was not good for Adam to be alone and created Eve.

He made everything perfect, but to give mankind freewill he had to provide them with a choice, therefore he told them there was just one tree that they should not eat from, otherwise we would be robots.

Satan, a fallen angel, deceived Eve who then convinced Adam into eating the forbidden fruit, which in turn brought a curse on all of mankind by separating them from God and his perfect love. This was never God’s plan.

There was only one way to rectify this situation and it meant God having to send Jesus to die in place of us for our sins.

For God to love us perfectly he can not accept any sin, it is an abomination to Him. Totally contradictory to who He is.

In the bible, in the book of John chapter 3 verse16 it says:

For God so loved the world that he gave his one and only Son, that whoever believes in him shall not perish but have eternal life

To enter into what God has planned for us on earth and to enter heaven we must surrender our lives entirely to Him, acknowledging our sin and accepting that Jesus died for us.

Then we must be baptized in water and in the Holy Spirit thereby anointing us to go to all people and fulfil ‘the great commission’.

Being baptized is explained a bit in John chapter 3 verses 5 – 7:

Jesus answered, “I tell you the truth, no-one can enter the kingdom of God unless he is born of water and the Spirit.

Flesh gives birth to flesh, but the Spirit gives birth to spirit.

You should not be surprised at my saying, ‘You must be born again.”

The great commission is when Jesus told his disciples what they should do, it is explained in Matthew 28:18-20:

Then Jesus came to them and said, “All authority in heaven and on earth has been given to me. Therefore go and make disciples of all nations, baptising them in the name of the Father and of the Son and of the Holy Spirit, and teaching them to obey everything I have commanded you. And surely I am with you always, to the very end of the age.”

To surrender your life is easily said, but a lot harder to work out day to day… it means giving up your self and your selfish ideas, every day, it means trying to live as Jesus would in every situation. By the Holy Spirit, God will help you, but its not an easy ride.

It is however the only truly satisfying thing you can do on this earth, it also has eternal consequences. Heaven and Hell are very real places, and whether we chose to live for ourselves or for Jesus in this lifetime will decide whether we spend eternity with Jesus in heaven, which is better than you can even possibly imagine, or somewhere you don’t want to imagine…

Having heard the word, you have a choice to make, either you choose to follow Jesus or to deny Him. You will only be truly fulfilled in life if you choose to follow Him, because that is what we were created for, nothing else will fill the God shaped hole inside you.

No amount of money, fame, or any other worldly pursuit will fill that hole.

Now you have heard, you cant claim ignorance. This is serious, I have committed my whole life to follow Jesus and by His grace alone, I hope to hear on the final day of judgement “well done, my good and faithful servant”

There will be a day of judgement, if you have heard the truth you have had a chance to investigate this further and to follow the murmuring of your heart that is confirming this is true.

Don’t wait, don’t delay, God alone knows the number of days we have.

I know who my Jesus is, and I know that he died for me and for you, so that we could live this incredible life, now and for evermore.

Whatever you do, please don’t brush this under the carpet, and try to carry on living your life your own way. Investigate what I have written, ask Jesus to show you personally, read the bible. I know that what I have shared will sustain any thorough investigation.
